Interviews with former FARC-EP commanders, policymakers and more.
In 2016, the Colombian State and FARC-EP signed a peace agreement. This context provides the backdrop to Civil War Paths project fieldwork, led by PhD Researcher Eduardo Álvarez-Vanegas. Eduardo’s research involves case studies, ethnographic methods, and in-depth interviews to explore the internal dynamics of armed groups: including rebel cohesion and fragmentation, and the impacts of these on the peace process and ongoing violence.
Since 2018, Dr Shesterinina has collected life history interviews with former FARC-EP midlevel commanders along with semi-structured interviews with various actors involved in the peace process, including policymakers, practitioners and experts in national agencies, international organisations, universities and think tanks, and a wide range of documents, reports and academic and news sources.
